A pretty straightforward conversation at RetailWire about Nordstrom’s plan to open a flagship store in New York City. Little disagreement with my opinion:
Nordstrom will draw in Manhattan almost anywhere it chooses to locate. But the reported site is a choice one, near Columbus Circle (and at a transit crossroads) but without another anchor department store in the immediate vicinity. Frankly the brand has gained wide acceptance in the Tri-State area already and will also benefit from the huge influx of travelers and business people driving retail commerce in Manhattan.
